Advice from top Erie runners: Ginny Sackett

Ginny, bib #709, leading the pack in the 2010 Her Times race.

Erie runner, Ginny Sackett, 47, started running two dozen years ago and has been tearing up the roads and winning local races ever since. Age hasn’t slowed her down one bit, as you can see from the race results in which she frequently places in the top three, often with women half her age.

According to her Team Achille’s bio on the Achille’s Running Shop website, Ginny’s PRs are:
5k 18:26
10k 37:53
15k 1:00:36
10 mile 1:04
half marathon 1:24:36
30k 2:09:41
marathon 3:21:51

I asked Ginny for her best advice for women who want to run at her pace:

“That’s tough because everyone is different. Knowledge is power, read, listen, experiment….but don’t believe everything you read and hear. Find out what works best for you.

“No matter how talented you may be, there is no replacement for hard work. So work hard and be consistent. That said, be flexible with your workouts and listen to your body.

“Also, get properly fitted with shoes.”
