Try barefooting

Tom Madura (white hoodie) leads a barefoot running clinic at an ERC meeting last year.

Erie’s barefoot runner Tom Madura sent this reminder — and an invitation to try running with naked feet:

Less than 8 weeks ’til the 2nd Annual International Barefoot Running
Day (IBRD -Sunday May 6th)!

The weather forecast for the next week-and-a-half looks more like May
than March, so if you’ve been wanting to try out barefoot running -
now’s your chance! If you start now you may be ready to be part of
IBRD on May 6.

For anyone that is interested, I’ll be doing some evening runs next
week at Presque Isle, and I’d be happy to have some company. If you
want to try barefoot running, or are just curious about it and want to
ask some questions, come on down! Run as little or as far as you want
- just come and give barefootin’ a try.

Right now I plan on running at least Monday and Wednesday next week at
Presque Isle, starting at the Stull Nature Center parking lot at about
5:30. I can adjust the time if any folks let me know they’re coming.
