Tatt talk

This week’s topic — Tattoos, specifically running-related tattoos.

I asked local runners:

Do you have a running-related tattoo? What is it? Where is it?  If you don’t have one…have you ever thought of getting one? What would you have done?

I don’t have any tattoos and it’s not likely I’d ever get one but, if I did, I’d get one that had something to do with running.

Here’s what everyone else had to say:

Kim H.

“I don’t have a running related tattoo but would not be against getting one (I have 5 non-running related tattoos).  I think if I completed a really tough distance (like a 50 miler) that I would get the distance tattooed on my lower leg.  But, I don’t have plans to run any 50 milers any time soon, soooo…..”  — Kim H.

Note to Kim: If you did decide to do one, may I suggest the Oil Creek 100 races?

Eric

“Yes, its called the strong stick man. It is on my inner left arm. It’s a solid bold black stick man doing a double bi flex, hence strong stick man. I got the idea a long time ago from friends at the gym that couldn’t belive how I run all the time and compete in running races and triathlons. So they gave me the nick name Erie’s fastest body builder.

So I just started doodling this little figure and thought I would love to have this tattooed on me. Its funny cause every race I do have someone comments on my size or comes up to me and says congrats you can move for a big guy. Example this past weekend I had a guy come up to me at Corry YMCA triathlon and asked who I played linebacker for I just laughed and he said congrats.

But there has been some what of a down side to my size, every now and then you come across get a shit talker at races and its funny.  I just keep a focused smile and say to myself, this a**hole will be seeing my back the whole race.

I will get another racing tattoo when I complete a Full Iron Man, I did a half this year, but I will hold out for the full to get my next tattoo.”

“Not a running-related tat per se, but a barefoot related one. I figure it may give people a clue that I am running barefoot ON PURPOSE, and I’m not just some guy who forgot his shoes! :-) Actually, I’ve been thinking about getting one on the other foot, possibly running-related. Haven’t decided yet.” — Tom Madura
