LAKERS EXTRA: Mercyhurst beats RMU, reaches CHA title game

Bailey Bram had two goals and two assists and Jesse Scanzano had four assists to lead the Mercyhurst College women’s hockey team to a 7-1 win against Robert Morris in a College Hockey America Tournament semifinal today at City Sports Center Arena in Detroit.

The top-ranked Lakers (28-2-3) will meet Syracuse, which beat Niagara in the other semifinal in Saturday’s 5 p.m. championship game. The Lakers reached their eighth final in the CHA’s eight-year  history (7-0 record).

Vicki Bendus, who was named CHA player of the year on Thursday, had a goal and two assists. Melissa Lacroix (goal, assist) and Samantha Watt (two assists) added two points apiece. Chelsea Walkland scored the lone goal for the Colonials, which ended their season at 10-24-1.
