The 24th annual Rick Gotkin Laker Hockey School, under the direction of Mercyhurst University men’s hockey coach Rick Gotkin, will be held from Monday, July 30 through Saturday, August 4 at the Mercyhurst Ice Center.
Classes will begin at 8 a.m. and continue through the day, with the youngest age groups skating earliest. Players will be grouped according to their age and experience. Adjustments can be made from group to group by Coach Gotkin depending upon the ability levels of the students.
The program will combine two and one-half hours of actual on-ice instruction. All phases of the game will be covered: skating, passing, puck handling, team play, shooting, checking, as well as defensive and offensive positional play. A ratio of at least one coach per seven players will be maintained at all times. Each player will receive equal ice time, a camp jersey, and a certificate of completion.
For more information call (814) 824-2542 or (814) 836-5775 after 7 p.m. or e-mail rgotkin@mercyhurst.edu. There will be a mandatory final registration at the MIC on Sunday, July 29 between 9 a.m. and noon. If you are not from Erie, you can do this on Monday, July 30, 2012.
