LAKERS UPDATE: Special teams lead Mercyhurst women to win

The Mercyhurst University women’s hockey team was special on special teams Friday night.
The ninth-ranked Lakers scored four power-play goals on five chances, and were a perfect 5-for-5 on the penalty kill, on their way to a 6-3 win against Providence at Mercyhurst Ice Center. Molly Byrne scored both of her goals with the man advantage and added an assist for a three-point outing.
Christie Cicero scored twice for the Lakers (4-0-1). Jenna Hendrikx, Jenna Dingeldein and Christine Bestland had two assists apiece.
The two teams meet again Saturday at 2 p.m. at MIC.
