CAMP CORNER: Bassin denies asking Lattavo to be enforcer

Sherry Bassin, Erie Otters managing partner and general manager, said today that no one within the organization asked RW prospect Thomas Lattavo to be an enforcer.
Bassin said Lattavo was told that he needed to be “tougher to play against” during a meeting Friday night. Bassin said he pointed out Lattavo’s play in the corners and in front of the net.
Lattavo survived the second round of cuts late Friday. Yet Lattavo said late Friday night that he chose to leave training camp after not accepting the club’s decision to play the “tough guy role.” Lattavo said he didn’t want to ignore the offensive side of his game.
Lattavo said today that “my style of play didn’t suit their needs.”
