OTTERS EXTRA: Burakovsky not recognized as Otters’ rookie record holder

Andre Burakovsky had 41 goals, 46 assists and 87 points in his first OHL season. That was more than Tim Connolly (30 goals in 1997-98) and current teammate Connor McDavid (41 assists and 66 points in 2012-13).
But since the OHL doesn’t recognize Burakovsky as a rookie because he’s 18 years old (a year older than the maximum age allowed for rookie status), club officials have decided to do the same. Burakovsky would have led all rookies in all three categories if not for that rule.
