UPDATE: Goaltender Janus returning to Otters

The AHL’s Norfolk Admirals will reassign goaltender Jaroslav Janus to the Erie Otters this week, Craig Oster, his agent with Newport Sports Managment Inc. in Mississauga, Ontario, confirmed in an e-mail today. Janus could rejoin the Otters in time for Friday’s game against Niagara at Tullio Arena, Oster said.

Janus spent the past month under a 25-game professional tryout contract with the Admirals. He appeared in two of 10 games, posting a 0-2-0 record, 1.52 goals-against average and .939 save percentage. Prior to joining the Admirals, he participated in training camp with the NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning, which selected him in the sixth round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

Janus’ return leaves the Otters with three goaltenders, including veteran Shane Owen and rookie Ramis Sadikov. The Otters have allowed 74 goals in 17 games this season – the OHL’s third-worst total. With Janus in net last season, the club finished among the league’s top 10 with 239 goals against.
