Former Mercyhurst University hockey player Kelley Steadman has been named to the United States Women’s National Under-22 Select Team. She earned her spot during the USA Hockey Women’s Hockey Festival in Blaine, Minn., this past week. For her efforts, Steadman earns a chance to face former teammate and current Lakers sophomore forward Shelby Bram in a three-game weekend series in Calgary, Alberta.
Steadman and Team USA plays against Bram and Team Canada’s Under-22 Development Team today and Friday at 9 p.m. and Sunday at noon at WinSport Canada Athletic & Ice Complex. Bram’s performance in these games, as well as with Mercyhurst in the 2012-13 season, could move her closer to making Canada’s roster for the 2013 Meco Cup this coming January in Germany.
