The Erie Otters have signed seven prospects from the 2013 and 2014 OHL draft classes…

Seven members of the 2013 draft class – Sean Kohler (6th round), Patrick Fellows (7th round), T.J. Fergus (8th round), Frank Pucci (12th round), Jack Scanlan (13th round), Owen Headrick (14th round) and Trayvon Henry (15th round) – headlined the Erie Otters’ opening round of camp cuts. The club also cut free agents Brady Allen, Matthew Bell, Anton Bura, Teilen Celentano, Brett Dykstra, Arun Kumar and Alexander Row.
That leaves 44 players in camp, which will be divided into two teams for Thursday’s workouts. Six free agents survived cut day – Cameron Etherington, Nolan Dunn, Jeff St. Pierre, Fabrizio Ricci, Khadyn Butterfly, Cristiano DiGiacinto and Matt Marsden. The Otters also have five players from the 2013 class left – top three picks Dylan Strome, Jesse Saban, Cole Mayo, fifth-rounder Trent Fox (younger brother of F Dane Fox) and CHL first-round pick Andre Burakovsky, who arrived late Wednesday and will be on the ice Thursday.

Five Erie Otters picks in the 2013 OHL Priority Selection – C Dylan Strome (1st round), D Jesse Saban (2nd), D Cole Mayo (3rd), LW Sean Kohler (6th) LW and Patrick Fellows (7th) – will join 63 other players at Team Ontario’s Under-17 Provincial Camp today through Sunday at General Motors Centre in Oshawa, Ontario.
They are vying for spots on the team that will play in the 2014 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, which is set for Dec. 27-Jan. 5 in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.

Erie Otters C Connor McDavid, 16, and D Adam Pelech, 18, will join 32 other CHL players – including 11 other OHL players – at Canada’s National Junior Team Summer Development Camp, set for Aug. 4-10 in Brossard, Quebec, and Lake Placid, N.Y.
They will head to Brossard for two days of practices Aug. 4-5 at the Montreal Canadiens’ practice facility before heading to Lake Placid for exhibition games against Finland Aug. 7, Otters G Oscar Dansk and Sweden Aug. 8 and the United States Aug. 10.
McDavid and Pelech will be joined by G Jake Paterson (Saginaw), Ds Matt Finn (Guelph) and Darnell Nurse (Sault Ste. Marie) and Fs Max Domi (London), Brendan Gaunce (Belleville), Bo Horvat (London), Scott Laughton (Oshawa), Sean Monahan (Ottawa), Ryan Rupert (London), Kerby Rychel (Windsor) and Tom Wilson (Plymouth).
