COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Shriners Hospital for Children – Erie’s Mighty Otters sled hockey team won the Novice division championship at the eighth annual Aladdin Shriners Invitational last weekend.

The Mighty Otters feature current and former Shriners Hospital patients from the Erie region. They beat Pittsburgh’s Mighty Penguins, another team affiliated with Erie’s Shriners Hospital, 2-1 in the title game.

Erie native LeeMar Jones scored both goals. Erie’s Tom Markley allowed only seven goals on 45 shots.

The two-day tournament included seven teams from Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan and Indiana.
