BRECLAV, Czech Republic – Erie Otters goaltender Devin Williams didn’t play in the United States’ Under-18 Select Team’s opening game today at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament.
Williams was the backup to Thatcher Demko (Omaha, USHL), who made 38 saves in a 2-1 SO loss to Russia. Williams stopped the three shots he faced in the final 30 minutes of a 6-0 exhibition win against Slovakia this past Saturday.
The U.S. faces Czech Republic Tuesday at noon before completing pool play Wednesday at 7:30 a.m. against Finland. The semifinals are set for Friday, followed by the third-place game and championship game Saturday.
