Glenwood League

June 29: Miller’s Law/Merrill Lynch scored the winning run in the top of the ninth inning for a 7-6 victory over Knox Law. Matt Adamson (Villa Maria) was the winning pitcher with an inning of relief and also drove in a run.

Knox starter Bobby Morrow (Girard) pitched the first five innings, struck out five and walked one.

Nagy’s Tree Farm also blanked Creative Imprint Systems 7-0 as part of the Ainsworth Field doubleheader. Kevin Gnacinski (Villa) went the first 4 2/3 innings for CI and took the loss.

July 2: Miller/Merrill’s Joe Lauria (Cathedral Prep) and Gnacinski were Ferraro Division selections for the Glenwood League All-Star Game. Gnacinski pitched a scoreless inning of relief for Ferraro, which beat the Pontiac Division 1-0 in nine innings.

American Legion

June 28: Wesleyville swept Edinburgh in a doubleheader. Wesleyville won the opener 6-0 thanks to a three-hit shutout by Eric Brandt (Mercyhurst Prep). Brandt struck out seven.

Despite Edinboro’s 11-run fifth inning, Wesleyville prevailed in the second game by an 18-11 final. T.J. Mitchell (Mercyhurst Prep) was the winning pitcher despite his horrendous fifth, which included a double and triple for Edinboro’s Nick Lombardo (General McLane).

Millcreek blanked Hamot Heart Institute 9-0 in the Millcreek Tournament championship game at Mercyhurst College. The game was called after five innings, which meant Tyler DeCrapio (McDowell) was credited with a one-hit shutout.

DeCrapio walked two and struck out five. The only hit he allowed was a single to Hamot’s Ryan Bihler (Cathedral Prep).

Millcreek’s Jeff Robson (McDowell) contributed three hits and an RBI on offense.

June 29: Albion Post 567 scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning for a 7-4 victory over Hamot. Nick Maskrey (Northwestern) totaled four hits and two RBIs for the winners.

July 1: Albion tripled up visiting West County 9-3. The hosts’ D.J. Haffley (Northwestern) drove in runs with a double and triple.
