The Fort LeBoeuf Bisons, who won this year’s PIAA Class AA team tournament, won’t have an individual state champion this season. Jeremy King, LeBoeuf’s lone representative, lost 3-1 to Carlynton’s Montana Trombetta at 152. King (37-2) began the tournament with the division’s best winning percentage at that weight.

Sharon’s Jordan Moss, a 2008 AA state champion, advanced at 145 pounds. Moss improved to 43-0 with a 15-5 major decision over Chris Nagel of Southern Huntingdon.

Nick Carr of South Fayette decisioned Cochranton senior Mikel Boughner 8-1 at 145 pounds. Through the first half of the championship first round, only Union City’s Shane Rankin (112) and Jamestown’s Aaron Roberts (119) have won from the northern counties of District 10.

Shamokin’s Josh Lahr caught Tim Clark with a reversal in the second overtime session, and ultimately beat the Saegertown senior 3-1 at 135 pounds. Northwestern’s Ian Chiesa also fell into the 140 consolation bracket when Somerset’s Luke Lohr blanked him 7-0.

Dylan Simmer of Iroquois (125) and Levi Morton of North East (130) were relegated to the consolation bracket with losses. Zac Beitz of Juniata decisioned Simmer 9-2, while at the same time Adam Kritzer of Line Mountain prevented a third-period cradle attempt by Morton and held on for an 8-5 final.

Jamestown 119-pounder Aaron Roberts is the first Crawford County entry to advance. The Muskies sophomore outlasted Adam Phillippi of Saucon Valley in a wild 12-11 final.

Union City’s Shane Rankin is the first D-10 entry into a quarterfinal. The junior caught Huntingdon’s Kie Brown on a reversal with 18 seconds left for the decisive takedown in a 6-5 victory at 112.

Tyler Pier’s senior status meant little to Oley Valley freshman Robert Ritschard, who pinned the Harbor Creek entry with a cradle hold at 4:16 of their 103-pound match.
