Mercyhurst Prep girls golf - The Lakers put together a big week with two mega-match wins and the Meadville tournament championship. Mercyhurst finished one point behind McDowell in the region standings and could be a tough team to beat in the postseason.
Cathedral Prep soccer – The Ramblers broke through in overtime to hand rival McDowell a 1-0 loss. Greg Roos found his brother Jason Roos with four minutes left for the game-winning goal.
General McLane football - The Lancers found themselves down 21 points at halftime in a hostile environment. McLane gathered itself and scored 27 unanswered points to knock off unbeaten Harbor Creek 34-28 to avoid an 0-3 start.
Slippery Rock football - The Rockets didn’t win a game in 2010. Slippery Rock not only broke a string of 15 losses last week but it continued its early season success with a 38-34 win over previously unbeaten DuBois.
McDowell football – The Trojans picked up their third-straight win by defeating Seneca Valley 43-29. The two teams were tied 29-29 before McDowell scored twice in the final minutes to secure the conference win.
Harbor Creek girls soccer – Despite playing without all-region standout Kaylee Lewis, the Huskies scored with less than four minutes left to beat Fairview 1-0 in a crucial Region 6 match. Megan Yount scored for Harbor Creek.
Hickory girls soccer – The Hornettes made the playoffs last fall and after an early exit, they want more this fall. Hickory proved it can hang with some of the best teams in District 10 on Saturday with a 4-1 win over Villa Maria.
Mercer boys soccer – The Mustangs are a tough team to best this season. Mercer beate Meadville 7-1 on Saturday only days after upsetting Slippery Rock 3-2 in overtime.
Mercyhurst Prep girls tennis – The Lakers started a big week by defeating State College 4-3 on Friday. They stayed in the middle of the state overnight before winning the State College Invitational on Saturday. Mercyhurst’s trip came after region wins against McDowell, Fairview and Central Tech earlier in the week.
Fort LeBoeuf boys cross country – The Bisons used a first-place finish by Matt McWilliams and a third place from Tyler Yost to win the Penn State Behrend Invitational.
Cambridge Springs girls cross country – Olivia Mamula took second and Reilly Walsh finished third to help the Blue Devils win the Penn State Behrend Invitational.
