Sharpsville football - The Blue Devils used a gusty call in the final minute to remain perfect this season. Sharpsville faked an extra point and scored on a 2-point conversion to edge Mercer 34-33.
Grove City football – The Eagles moved to 7-0 this season by routing Oil City 70-2.
Conneaut Valley football – With only 16 players, the Indians came together to upset Linesville 14-12. The Lions and Indians could be teammates next year if Linesville and Valley consolidate.
McDowell football – The Trojans avoided trouble by knocking off North Hills 23-22 with a late field goal from Zack Baker. McDowell could have fallen into fourth place but the win gives the Trojans a chance at second place in their conference and a possible home playoff game.
Cathedral Prep golf – The Ramblers advanced to the PIAA championship tournament next week by taking second at the Western Regional.
Harbor Creek volleyball – The Huskies edged Iroquois in the championship to claim the Iroquois tournament on Saturday.
Linesville volleyball – The Lions remained perfect on Tuesday by sweeping Saegertown. Linesville is 11-0 and looks like a strong favorite for the District 10 Class A title.
Slippery Rock volleyball – The Rockets moved to 11-0 on Tuesday by beating Mercer in three games.
General McLane boys soccer – The Lancers moved into first place in Region 5 with a big 4-1 win over Harbor Creek on Tuesday.
North East boys soccer – The Grapepickers started region play 0-2-1. Since that point, North East has won eight matches in a row, including seven shutouts by goalkeeper Josh Eby.
Iroquois girls soccer – The Braves defeated Maplewood 2-1 on Monday to lock up the Region 3 title and a spot in the District 10 Class A championship.
