Mercyhurst Prep jumped to No. 3 in the Class AAA girls poll after the Lakers’ thrilling 45-39 overtime win against Villa Maria. The Victors stayed in the top spot in Class AA, a spot they haven’t vacated since winning a state title in the 2008-09 season.
Franklin’s loss to Oakland Catholic dropped the Knights to No. 5, while Kennedy Catholic dropped from No. 4 to 3 in Class A because of the strong play by Vincentian Academy. Girard moved up to No. 7 in AA and has a second showdown with Villa Maria on Thursday.
Mercyhurst Prep’s 44-38 loss dropped the Lakers out of the Class AA boys top 10 into honorable mention, while General McLane moved up to No. 7 in Class AAA. West Middlesex held steady at No. 6 in Class A.
