Ohio softball star strikes out 34 in one game

Monday’s much-anticipated showdown between nationally-ranked teams Poland (Ohio) Seminary and Delray Beach American Heritage (Fla.) did not disappoint. Poland won 2-1 in 16 innings behind 34 strikeouts by Erin Gabriel. Poland, ranked No. 12 in the country, is unbeaten this season and Gabriel is a big reason why. Gabriel was the 2010 and 2011 Gatorade Softball Player of the Year in Ohio and was a member of the 2010-11 U.S. Junior National team. She also won a gold medal at the 2010 Pan American games as a member of the U-18 team.
