Erie Times-News Breakout Athlete of the Week nominees

Fans can vote for the Breakout Baseball and Softball Players of the Week on the top right corner of the page. Voting continues through Tuesday at 11:59 p.m. with the winner being featured later this week in the Erie Times-News. Players who have won the award this season are no longer eligible. Fans are encouraged to e-mail nominations to sports@timesnews.com each week by 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Baseball
Tony Stigliano, Hickory – Tossed a three-hit shutout to lead the Hornets to a 5-0 win over Mercer. Stigliano struck out five and allowed one walk.
Matt Gordon, Grove City – Struck out 10 in a complete-game effort to beat Oil City 8-1. Gordon allowed four hits and only one walk.
Dillon Fair, West Middlesex – Had two doubles and a triple in a 17-0 win over Jamestown.
Scott Moore, Kennedy Catholic – Finished with 14 strikeouts while allowing three hits and two walks in a 4-2 win over Rocky Grove.
Kevin Yarabinec, Sharpsville – Yarabinec did it all for the Blue Devils, once again, in a 10-0 win over West Middlesex. He struck out 15 while allowing only two hits and two walks to pick up the shutout win, while also hitting an RBI triple and a solo home run to end the game.
Graydon Emhoff, Mercer – Went 4-for-4, including a double, and picked up the win on the mound as the Mustangs beat Lakeview 12-4.
Hank Morrison, Warren – Hit two home runs, including a grand slam, and drove in six runs in a 15-1 win over Harbor Creek.
Jake Olejarczyk, Strong Vincent – Had four hits and four RBIs in a 14-5 win over Central Tech.
Zach LaRocca, Fairview – Struck out 10 in a complete-game effort as the Tigers picked up a huge 5-3 win over North East.
Jake Marino, Youngsville - Went 4-for-4 with three runs scored in a 7-4 win over Seneca.
Scott Hess, Cathedral Prep – Had three hits and drove in three runs in a 13-3 win over Franklin.
Alex Caruana, Northwestern – Struck out five in a shutout effort on the mound as the Wildcats knocked off Titusville 4-0.
Josh Ponsoll, General McLane – Was a home run short of the cycle and scored three times while driving in three runs in a 7-5 win over Sharon.
Tyler Fattman, Commodore Perry – Had two doubles, scored twice and drove in two runs in an 18-2 win over Central Tech.

Softball
Hailey Gearthart, Reynolds – Tossed a no-hitter with nine strikeouts and one walk in a 15-0 win over Commodore Perry.
Kristina Jacoway, Sharon – Had four RBIs on two hits, including a three-run home run in a 10-3 win over Meadville.
Jessica May, Jamestown – Had four hits, including a double and a home run, while driving in four runs in a 19-10 win over Lakeview.
Shana Grosch, Titusville – Struck out eight in a one-hitter as the Rockets beat Grove City 5-0.
Haley Spencer, Sharpsville – Tossed a one-hitter in a 12-0 win over Rocky Grove.
Kaitlin Ishman, Warren – Had two home runs and a bases-loaded triple to finish with six RBIs in an 11-0 win over Mercyhurst Prep.
Courtney Brumagin, Union City – Went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored and two RBIs in a 14-4 win over Cambridge Springs.
Gabby Kennelley, Fort LeBoeuf – Finished 3-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI in a 15-0 win over Strong Vincent.
Kristen Baker, Conneaut Valley – Had three hits, two runs and three RBIs, including a home run, in a 7-6 win over Linesville.

Track and field
Boys
Kevin Reno, Mercer – Won three events in a win over Reynolds. Reno won the 1,600 and 3,200 while running a leg in a distance relay.
Zach VanDusen, Lakeview – Won the 100, triple jump and long jump in a win over Kennedy Catholic.
Nathan Zigler, Warren – Took home the 110 and 300 hurdles along with the long jump and high jump against Meadville.
Anthony Amroski, Eisenhower – Won the 800, 1,600 and 3,200 in a meet against Youngsville.
Tyler Davis, North East – Won the 110 hurdles, high jump, triple jump and was on the 1,600 relay in a tri-meet sweep of Union City and Girard.
Joe Oduho, Cathedral Prep – Won three events to help the Ramblers sweep East and Strong Vincent. Oduho won the 100, 200 and was in the 400 relay team.

Girls
Emily Moroco, Reynolds – Took home the 100, 200 and ran in the 400 relay during a close win over Mercer.
Alexis King, Wilmington – Won four events in a rout of Sharpsville. King won the 100 and long jump before helping the 400 and 1,600 relay teams win.
Sabol Csatlos, Sharon – Won all three throwing events in a loss to Grove City.
Jen Neider, Hickory – Set a school record in the shot put with a toss of 46 feet, 81/4 inches in a shutout of Commodore Perry.
Paige Kassab, Meadville – Won four events and set a course record in the high jump as the Bulldogs beat Franklin. Kassab cleared 5 feet, 7 inches in the high jump and won the 100 hurdles, long jump and triple jump.
Ellis Beardsley, Warren – Won the 800 and 1,600 before helping the 1,600 and 3,200 relay teams win over Meadville.
Cassi Swartzbaugh, Youngsville – Won four events, including the 100 hurdles, 300 hurdles, triple jump and 1,600 relay. Her time of 16.73 in the 100 hurdles tied a school record.
Anna Chodubski, McDowell – Had four event wins against Fort LeBoeuf. Chodubski won the 100 hurdles, the 200, the triple jump and was on the winning 400 relay team.
Alex Schriefer, North East - Won three events as the Grapepickers remained undefeated. She won the high jump and was part of the winning 400 and 1,600 relay teams.
Grace Trucilla, Villa Maria – Had three events wins to help the Victors beat East and Strong Vincent. Trucilla won the 400 and ran in the 1,600 and 3,200 relay teams.

Spring athlete
Diego Rey, Kennedy Catholic tennis – Picked up a crucial win at No. 3 singles to help the Golden Eagles edge Greenville 3-2.
Jalen Scott, Farrell volleyball – Collected 11 kills and six assists in a 3-2 win over Beaver County Christian.
Chad Ferguson, Greenville tennis – Ferguson kept up his dominant start at No. 1 singles with a 6-0, 6-1 win against Oil City.
Matt Welker, Grove City tennis – Picked up an easy 6-0, 6-0 win at No. singles against Sharon.
Dean Lewis, Maplewood volleyball – Collected 16 kills and 12 digs in a sweep of Cochranton.
R.J. Petrella, Fairview tennis – Continued his impressive season at No. 1 singles with a quick win against Harbor Creek.
Josh Mack, Cathedral Prep lacrosse – Scored three goals in an 11-1 win over Fairview.
Danny Cryer, McDowell lacrosse – Collected five goals in a 13-2 win over Vincentian Academy.
