Mercer County Invitational records shattered Saturday

The Erie County Classic saw two records fall on Thursday as Northwestern’s Kyle McKeen won the triple jump at 45 feet, 1 inch and Amber Bacon of Union City set a javelin record at 124 feet, 1 inch. Those performances were just the beginning of several great marks set by District 10 athletes this past week. Here is a list of every record set at the always competitive Mercer County Invitational on Saturday at Hickory High School:

Boys
800 – Daniel Jaskowak, Grove City 1:55.29 and Ryan Thompson, Slippery Rock 1:55.87
400 relay – Clay Allen, Sebastian Grasso, Colin Patten and Luke Patten, West Middlesex 42.91
1,600 relay – Ryan Thompson, Ty Udy, Brock Sloan and Braden Sloan, Slippery Rock 3:26.03
3,200 relay – Alex Knaby, Daniel Jaskowak, Ian Brown and Tyler Eccles, Grove City 8:02.65
High jump – Jeremy Jancso, West Middlesex 6-8
Long jump - Jake Wyllie, Grove City 30-5 and Jeremy Jancso, West Middlesex 22-31/2

Girls
400 – Marina Wareham, Kennedy Catholic 58.44
1,600 – Morgan Richards, Hickory 5:01.19
Pole vault – Rebekah Petty, Greenville 11-6
Triple jump – Mariah Burns, Wilmington 37-11/4
Shot put - Jennifer Neider, Hickory 45-41/2
Discus - Taylor Woods, Hickory 146-2 and Lauren Lubarski, Hickory 141-4

Saturday’s big performances set up what should be an entertaining District 10 Class AA championship meet later this week at Hickory High School. The Class AAA meet will take place Wednesday at Harbor Creek with the AA meet three days later at Hickory.
