District 10 Class AAA track and field championship updates

District 10 Class AAA track and field athletes are vying for a trip to Shippensburg today at Harbor Creek’s Paul J. Weitz Stadium. The winner of each event is guaranteed a spot in the PIAA championship meet but athletes can also qualify by achieving the state qualifying time or distance. Here are updates from today’s meet, including the top three finishes in each even. Check Thursday’s edition of the Erie Times-News for full results.

Update No. 1
The rain held off this afternoon and we are under way at Harbor Creek High School. The field events will go on throughout the afternoon and evening but on the track we are starting with time trials in several events and the 3,200 relay at 3:30 p.m. Finals for running events won’t start rolling in until around 5 p.m. depending on how long the time trials go and if District 10 officials use the scheduled break. They skipped it last year because of the weather.
