Kulka pitching. A two-out rally doesn’t pan out as Kulka gets a ground ball to end the inning with runners at first and second.

Ted DeSanti leads off with a double, moves up on a groundout and scores on Jamie Lauria’s sac fly.

Prep’s Chris Francis comes on for Piotrowski after a leadoff walk, issues a walk to put runners at 1st and 2nd with no out, then works out of it with a strikeout and a double play ground ball.

Prep adds a pair of runs when Troy Braendel beats out a potential double play ball at first with the bases loaded, scoring Jamie Lauria, who walked leading off. Eli Flynn follows with an RBI single to right.

Chad Kulka and Ryan Graham with back-to-back singles leading off. Kulka scores on Hendricks’ groundout. Piotrowski gets strikeout to end the inning.

Flynn with a one-out double, went to third on a passed ball and scored on DeSanti’s line drive single to right.

Update 19:

GM’s Ponsoll led off the third with a base hit, Gierlak sacrificed him to second, Mountain struck out and Ponsoll was picked off second by Piotrowski.

Ryan Graham had a single to lead off the Lancers’ second inning. McLane also drew a walk to put two runners on, but a flyout ended the threat with runners on first and third.

The General McLane-Cathedral Prep game will start late because the early games have run long at Ainsworth Field.

Luke Hipple pitches the first four innings for the Rockets, and Adam Bleday pitches the final three.

Titusville will play Saegertown in the title game Monday at a site and time to be determined.

Sharon has runners on first and second with one out. Exciting finish ahead.

Update 12:

Mercyhurst Prep 15, Conneaut Lake 4, final

The Lakers will advance to face West Middlesex in Monday’s title game at a time and site to be determined.

Mitch Upperman, Emmitt Lehman, Brandon Pebbles and Ken Fugali each had three hits for Mercyhurst.

With Linesville and Conneaut Lake losing, this marks the final sporting events ever for both schools. Linesville, Conneaut Lake and Conneaut Valley will merge to form Conneaut High School starting in the 2012-13.

Mike Ginther throws a two-hitter for WM. The Big Reds are likely to face Mercyhurst Prep in the title game Monday.

Mercyhurst Prep 15, Conneaut Lake 4, bottom of 6th

RBI singles by Ken Fugali, Kyle O’Connell and Emmitt Lehman give the Lakers a three-run sixth.

Mercyhurst Prep 12, Conneaut Lake 4, top of 6th

Alex McCann hits an RBI single. Kyle Arkwright later hits an RBI groundout.

Update 8:

Mercyhurst Prep 12, Conneaut Lake 2, bottom of 5th

The Lakers’ Emmitt Lehman hits a two-run triple and scores on a throwing error. New pitcher for Mercyhurst is Aaron Haas.

Mike Ginther is throwing a two-hitter for the Big Reds.

Mercyhurst Prep 9, Conneaut Lake 2, top of 5th

Update 5:

After a walk, a sacrifice, another walk and a wild pitch, Mercyhurst’s Mitch Upperman drilled a two-run single. He’s now 3-for-3. Sam Corritore’s infield single later made it 9-2.

 

Update 4:

Mercyhurst Prep 6, Conneaut Lake 2, top of 4th

Conneaut Lake loaded the bases with one out in the third, but Mercyhurst Prep converted a line drive to center field into a double play when a Conneaut Lake player made a baserunning mistake.

Update 3:

Mercyhurst Prep 6, Conneaut Lake 2, top of 3rd

The Lakers move ahead. A bunt single by Emmitt Lehman, a walk and a blown pickoff play plated the first run. Mitch Upperman then singled to put runners on first and third. Ian Pertz followed with an RBI single. A then run came home a wild pitch. The fourth run came home when Mercyhurst attempted a double steal. The runner was thrown out at second base, but Pertz came home from third on the play.

Conneaut Lake has made a pitching change.

In an odd development, four players already have been picked off in this game — two from each team.

Update 1:

Mercyhurst Prep 2, Conneaut Lake 2, top of 3rd

In the top of the first inning, Mercyhurst gets an RBI double from Mitch Upperman. Ian Pertz follows with an RBI groundout.

In the bottom of the first, Conneaut Lake scores on a Kyle Arkwright RBI double and he comes home on an error.
