Erie Times-News Breakout Female Track Athlete of the Week: Anna Chodubski, McDowell

Anna Chodubski

As McDowell junior Anna Chodubski enters the PIAA track and field championships today, she’s already a seasoned veteran of state competition. At the 2011 PIAA championships, Chodubski placed third in the long jump with a leap of 18 feet 1⁄2 inch.

This weekend in Shippensburg, she’ll look to add a second state medal in the long jump and another in the triple jump.

Chodubski qualified for the state meet in both events May 16 by winning the long jump and placing second in the triple jump at the District 10 championships at Harbor Creek’s Weitz Stadium.

She repeated as long jump champion with a leap of 17-6. She narrowly missed her second straight D-10 gold medal in the triple jump with a second-place effort of 37-4 1⁄2.

No matter what happens this weekend, McDowell will be happy to have Chodubski back for a final season next year.
