The District 10 Class AAAA baseball and softball champions will have to take one extra step to get to the first round of the PIAA playoffs. McDowell won the D-10 AAAA baseball title Saturday and will take on D-8 champion Allderdice Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. at Slippery Rock’s Jack Critchfield Park in a subregional.
The D-10 Class AAAA softball champion will head to McGibbney Field on Thursday at a time to be determined against District 8 champion Brashear. McGibbney Field is in Brookline, a neighborhood of Pittsburgh. McDowell and Strong Vincent will play for the D-10 Class AAAA title on Monday at noon.
Allderdice and Brashear were the final District 8 champions in baseball and softball. The City League teams will join the WPIAL next season in baseball and softball.
