Ohio adds wheelchair events to high school state track meet

The Ohio High School Athletic Association has added eight wheelchair events to its state track meet for 2013. Check out the story on Cleveland.com.

Would this be a good idea for Pennsylvania to examine? Should the PIAA do it?

One Response to Ohio adds wheelchair events to high school state track meet

  1. JT says:

OHSAA is light years ahead of the PIAA (and that ain’t saying much).

Ohio did this to encourage wheelchair athletes to compete. Great move.

PIAA would only do this if they felt there was a need. OHSAA has recognized the disparity in competition in football (and done something about it) and they have floated numerous policies regarding private vs. public schools.

The PIAA can’t even define what a private school is. Seriously, they can’t define it. I can’t make that up.
