The Los Angeles Unified School District recently conducted a study that showed athletes attended school more often, had higher Grade Point Averages and scored higher on the California Standardized Tests than non-athletes. Around 35,000 students in the district participate in athletics and they were at school an average of 21 more days than students who don’t play a sport. Also, the study found that athletes had between .55 and .74 higher in their GPAs.
