District 10 rising baseball stars invited to all-star game

The University of Illinois will host the Under Armour Midwest Future Games August 3-5 in Champaign, Illinois. The games include baseball prospects in the class of 2014 from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio and Pennsylvania. Each team will play three games in front of college scouts and will be evaluated.

Out of only 15 roster spots on the Pennsylvania team, five have been announced with District 10 getting two spots. The full roster is due to be announced on Tuesday.

West Middlesex standout Christian Porterfield and Warren’s Collin Fantaskey were selected after terrific sophomore seasons. Porterfield hit .412 with 12 RBIs and 14 runs scored for the District 10 Class A champions. He was voted to the Region 1 all-star team as a catcher and was named the Region 1 Player of the Year. Fantaskey, who is a standout outfielder, hit .346 with eight doubles with nine RBIs and 12 runs scored for the D-10 Class AAA champs.

The roster also includes Neumann-Goretti first baseman Josh Ockimey, La Salle College shortstop/pitcher Dominic Cuoci and Blackhawk infielder/outfielder Cody Bain.

Check back Tuesday for the full 15-man roster.
