Meadville senior Foster commits to Temple

Meadville's Artrel Foster shakes off a would-be Fairview tackler in 2011.

Artrel Foster

The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Keith Pompey is reporting that Meadville running back/defensive back Artrel Foster has committed to Temple.

Foster has topped 1,000 yards rushing for two consecutive seasons going into his senior year. However, Pompey reported that the 6-foot 1-inch 180-pound Foster is expected to play cornerback or safety with the Owls.

Foster rushed for 1,191 yards and 11 touchdowns as a sophomore in 2010 and followed up with 1,205 yards and 10 TDs in 2011. He was one of three 1,000-yard rushers for the Bulldogs in 2011.

Fred Epps (1,722 yards, 22 TDs) and Terence Goodrum (1,392 yards, 14 TDs) also topped 1,000 yards, but both graduated. That will make Foster the primary rusher for Meadville this season.
