Outlook: Meadville took its annual place in the District 10 Class AA playoffs last fall but couldn’t get out of pool play. The Bulldogs only graduated one player in Megan Willey, a middle hitter, and could be a dangerous team in Region 4. Among Meadville’s returning players are Monica Jackson and Leah Jones. Jackson was voted to the all-region first team as an outside hitter, while Jones was a second-team outside hitter. Those two along with libero Mylinda Hartnett are being recruited by several colleges. Setter Katie Newman dished out 254 assists last year, while middle hitters Cadi McCoy and Ellen Mook are back. Brittany Morris stepped in when Jackson came down with an injury last fall and could be ready for more playing time this season. Seniors Christy Espy and Katie DeWalt are also back to help the Bulldogs chase a playoff spot. Meadville starts the season with brutal matches against General McLane and McDowell before traveling to Warren. The Bulldogs’ biggest matches of the season will be Sept. 18 and Oct. 11 against new rival Conneaut.
