Erie Times-News Breakout Team of the Week nominees

Fans can vote for the Breakout Team of the Week on the top right corner of the page. Voting continues through Friday at 4:59 p.m. with the winner being featured Sunday in the Erie Times-News. Teams who have won the award this season are no longer eligible. Fans are encouraged to nominate teams by 5 p.m. each Tuesday.

Sharpsville football – The Blue Devils are dominating Region 1 with a perfect 3-0 record.
Grove City football – The Eagles picked up another tough region win by defeating Reynolds 20-6 and took control of Region 3.
Cathedral Prep football – The Ramblers hammered Lake Catholic 37-6 to remain a perfect 3-0.
Union City football – Despite not having enough players in Week 2, the Bears not only competed Friday but defeated Maplewood 34-31.
DuBois football – The Beavers continued their hot start with a 50-6 rout of Punxustawney to move to 3-0.
Slippery Rock football – The Rockets held off upstart Central Tech 28-18 to win their third straight game in as many weeks this season.
Warren football – The Dragons haven’t had any problems this season with another rout Friday. Warren beat Bradford 47-6 and is 3-0 this year.
McDowell football – The Trojans picked up one of the most impressive wins in District 10 this week by routing state power Lancaster Catholic 49-20.
Wilmington boys soccer - The Greyhounds moved to 5-0-0 on Monday and look like a team to beat in Region 2.
Harbor Creek boys soccer - The Huskies are a perfect 7-0-0 this year and continue to dominate opponents.
Hickory girls soccer – The Hornets lost Allison Richards to graduation but the offense hasn’t slowed down at all. Hickory is 5-0-0 so far this season.
Mercyhurst Prep girls soccer – The Lakers moved to 4-1-0 Tuesday with a big 4-1 win over Villa Maria.
Harbor Creek girls soccer - The Huskies remained perfect at 6-0-0 with a thrilling 1-0 win over General McLane.
Fort LeBoeuf girls soccer – The Bison continue to improve this season and are 5-0-0.
Sharpsville girls volleyball – The Blue Devils swept Farrell Tuesday to improve to 3-0.
Cochranton girls volleyball – The Cardinals remained in first place in Region 2 Tuesday with a win over Union City. Cochranton is 3-0 this year.
Maplewood girls volleyball – The Tigers are on a roll after a five-set win over Saegertown. Maplewood is 3-0 and in first place in Region 2.
Meadville girls volleyball – The Bulldogs picked up a huge signature win by beating Conneaut Tuesday. Meadville is 5-0 and all alone in first place in Region 4.
Slippery Rock girls volleyball – The Rockets stayed perfect at 4-0 Tuesday with a win over Wilmington.
Fort LeBoeuf girls volleyball – The Bison have taken control of Region 5 after sweeping General McLane Tuesday. LeBoeuf is 3-0 this year.
Mercyhurst Prep girls tennis – The Lakers are a perfect 8-0 this year and look unstoppable.
Union City boys cross country – Won the Penn State Behrend Invitational this past weekend.
Cambridge Springs girls cross country – Took home the Penn State Behrend Invitational.
Hickory cross country – Swept the boys and girls team titles at the Commodore Perry Invitational.
North East boys cross country – The Grapepickers won the Class A race at the Slippery Rock Invitational.
Mercyhurst Prep girls golf – Clinched the Region 2 championship.

    I would like to nominate the Villa Maria Water Polo team for Breakout Team of the Week for winning the Beast of the East tournament.
