Carolina Mashyna has stepped up as a leader of the McDowell girls soccer team this season.
The junior forward has done it all — scoring goals, dishing out assists and even playing some goalkeeper as well.
Mashyna recently scored three goals in a 7-0 win over Central Tech.
She also had an assist and shut the Falcons out in goal in the second half. In seven matches this season, Mashyna has 11 goals and four assists and is emerging as a big-time scoring threat for the Trojans.
This is the second big weekly honor that Mashyna has received recently. On Sept. 12, she was named Varsity Female Athlete of the Week in the Varsity print edition.
