Erie Times-News Breakout Athlete of the Week nominees

Fans can vote for the Breakout Team of the Week on the top right corner of the page. Voting continues through Friday at 4:59 p.m. with the winner being featured Sunday in the Erie Times-News. Teams who have won the award this season are no longer eligible. Fans are encouraged to nominate teams by 5 p.m. each Tuesday.

Football
Austin Andrews, Cochranton – Rushed for 153 yards and three touchdowns on 14 carries in a 49-6 win over Union City.
Aaron Lundmark, Eisenhower - Ran for three touchdowns and threw a 13-yard touchdown pass in the final minute to help the Knights upset Mercyhurst Prep 26-25.
Ethan Moody, Maplewood – Carried the ball 29 times for 271 yards and two touchdowns in a 20-14 win over Youngsville.
Brandon Roda, Iroquois – Had 125 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries in a 22-16 win at Cambridge Springs.
Kellen Gursky, Reynolds – Scored three touchdowns in a 43-13 win over Saegertown.
DeShawn Coleman, Hickory – Ran for 169 yards and three touchdowns on 16 carries in a 41-12 rout of Grove City. He also returned an interception 92 yards for a touchdown.
Kyle McKeen, Northwestern – Scored three touchdowns in a 48-7 win over Harbor Creek. McKeen caught three passes for 42 yards and two touchdowns and returned a punt 54 yards for a touchdown.
Shannon Jackson, Fairview – Had 34 carries for 225 yards and the game’s only touchdown in a 10-0 win over North East.
Matt Cragg, Corry – Ran for 213 yards and three touchdowns on 15 carries in a 34-14 win over Fort LeBoeuf. Cragg also returned a free kick 62 yards for a touchdown.
Damion Terry, Cathedral Prep – Threw for 280 yards and five touchdowns to go over 1,000 yards this season in a 69-0 win over St. Francis (N.Y.).
Marcus Erdman, General McLane – Ran for 91 yards and four touchdowns in a 63-26 win over Franklin.
Forrest Wested, Franklin - Ran for 101 yards and one touchdown and threw for 137 yards and two touchdowns in a 63-26 loss to General McLane. He also caught four passes for 50 yards.
Luke Houpt, Greenville – Scored both Trojan touchdowns in a 14-7 win over Sharon. Houpt ran for 61 yards and one touchdown and caught a 12-yard go-ahead touchdown pass in the third quarter.
Nate Kokoski, Lakeview – Had two touchdowns in a 28-13 win over Mercer.
Luke Patten, West Middlesex – Had a hand in three touchdowns in a 32-7 win over Conneaut. Patten ran for 115 yards and two touchdowns and threw a 53-yard touchdown pass to Jeremy Jancso.
DeWayne Burns, Farrell – Scored four times in a 54-0 win over Redbank Valley. Burns ran for 179 yards and two touchdowns and caught a 41-yard touchdown pass and returned a kickoff 94 yards for a touchdown.
Tyler Donati, Wilmington – Ran for three touchdowns in a 32-7 win over Titusville.
Ryan Currie, Slippery Rock – Ran for 71 yards and two touchdowns in a 25-3 win over Bradford.
Garrett Brown, DuBois – Ran for 247 yards and five touchdowns on 28 carries in a 40-14 win over Oil City.
Austin Jerman, Warren – Had a hand in four touchdowns as the Dragons routed Meadville 49-28. Jerman threw for 174 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 67 yards and one touchdown.

Boys soccer
Cole McCandless, Slippery Rock – Scored both of the Rockets’ goals in a 2-0 win over Hickory. He also had two goals in a 3-2 loss to Franklin.
Nathan Breese, Mercer – Drilled a penalty kick to give the Mustangs a thrilling 1-0 win over Kennedy Catholic.
Jimmie D’Onofrio, Kennedy Catholic – Scored twice and had two assists in a 7-0 win over Sharpsville.
Ethan Thompson, West Middlesex – Had 12 saves in a 2-0 loss to Commodore Perry.
Jared Ruth, Oil City – Collected a hat trick in a 7-3 loss to Titusville.
John Obermeyer, Bradford – Scored three goals in an 8-0 win over Oil City.
Nick Kisiel, Mercyhurst Prep – Had two goals and three assists in an 11-0 win over Iroquois.
Mac Tompkins, Fairview - Scored twice, including the game-winner in double overtime to give the Tigers a 2-1 win over Seneca. Also had two goals in a win over Redbank Valley.
Andy Zalik, General McLane – Scored in double overtime to give the Lancers a 2-1 win over Girard.
Eric Campbell, Harbor Creek – Had three goals and one assist in a 7-0 win over Fort LeBoeuf.
Brett Birkmire, Conneaut – Scored four times in a 9-1 win over West Middlesex.
Hunter Mohney, Warren – Had two goals in a 3-1 win over Bradford.
Jon Clark, Wilmington – Had a hat trick and an assist in a 4-3 win over Grove City.
Chris Toy, North East – Scored four times in an 11-0 win over Iroquois.
Ryan Barlow, Girard – Had four goals in a 5-1 win over East.
Matt Schenberg, Saegertown – Continued his terrific season with three goals in a 4-2 win over Warren. He also had three goals and two assists in a 6-0 win over Conneaut.
Mike Spizarny, Cathedral Prep – Scored two goals and had an assist in a 7-0 win over Strong Vincent.

Girls soccer
Natalie Henwood, Sharpsville – Scored twice in a 3-1 win over West Middlesex.
Kyler Lum, Wilmington – Collected four goals to help the Greyhounds win their first match 6-2 over Sharon. Had two goals in a 3-0 win over Kennedy Catholic.
M.K. Bair, Hickory – Scored two goals in a 3-0 win over Grove City.
Antonia Piazza, Fairview – Finished with three goals in a 13-0 win over Maplewood.
Ania Gorski, Harbor Creek – Scored with 16 minutes, 28 seconds left to give the Huskies a thrilling 1-0 win over General McLane.
Kyla Dwyer, Mercyhurst Prep – The sophomore stepped up with two goals in a 4-1 win over Villa Maria.
Jordan Oberlander, Fort LeBoeuf - Had four goals in a 7-1 win over Girard.
Macy Putman, North East – Scored in double overtime to give the Grapepickers a 1-0 win over Eisenhower.
Morgan Putnam, Villa Maria – Had two goals and an assist in a 4-0 win over Central Tech.
Harley Boyd, Slippery Rock – Collected a hat trick in a 4-1 win over Grove City.
Taylor Babb, Cambridge Springs - Scored three times in a 4-0 shutout of Girard.

Girls volleyball
Aly Andrusky, West Middlesex – Had five aces, five kills and nine digs in a sweep of Reynolds. She also had 39 assists and five digs in a five-set win over Lakeview.
Kristen Scurpa, Sharpsville – Dished out 25 assists in a sweep of Farrell and 28 assists in a sweep of Commodore Perry.
Anna Connor, Mercer – Finished with 13 kills and seven blocks in a sweep of Jamestown.
Taylor Reed, Lakeview – Had 35 assists in a four-set win over Commodore Perry.
Abby Jones, Franklin - Continued her impressive sophomore season with 10 kills and eight blocks in a four-set loss to Corry.
Noelle Wienczkowski, Union City - Collected 15 kills, 4 blocks and 18 digs in a five-set win over Seneca.
Hannah Tombaugh, Iroquois - Dished out 16 assists in a sweep of Girard.
Lauren Kenny, Mercyhurst Prep – Had 14 kills in a sweep of Villa Maria. She also had 14 kills and six digs in a win over Central Tech.
Rayna Hollarn, North East – Finished with 23 assists in a sweep of Northwestern.
Madalyn Nicols, Maplewood – Had 13 kills and 10 digs in a five-set thriller over Saegertown.
McKenzie Turner, Cambridge Springs – Finished with 24 assists in a sweep of Eisenhower.
Brooklyn Goodsel, Corry – Had a big week with seven kills and seven digs in a win over Franklin before collecting 14 kills in a win over Oil City.
Leah Jones, Meadville – Finished with 17 kills, 10 digs and six aces in a thrilling win over Conneaut. She also had six kills and six digs in a sweep of Grove City.
Abby Rose, Fort LeBoeuf - Had five kills and 28 assists in a sweep of General McLane. She also had 20 assists in a sweep of North East.
Danielle Hayes, McDowell - Recorded 14 kills, six assists and eight blocks in a sweep of Harbor Creek.
Molly Regan, General McLane - Dished out 24 assists in a sweep of Girard.
Challen Litwiler, Conneaut – Finished with 13 kills in a sweep of Franklin.

Fall athlete
Brett Rinker, Slippery Rock golf – Shot a 66 to dominate a Region 3 megamatch.
Nate Anthony, West Middlesex golf – Finished with a round of 72 to win a Region 2 megamatch.
Matt McCord, Titusville golf – Shot a low round of 77 in a Region 5 megamatch.
Kahla Kemick, Franklin cross country - Set a school record with a time of 19 minutes, 11 seconds in a Region 3 dual with Maplewood and Cambridge Springs.
Megan Moylan, North East golf - Shot a 7-over-par round of 80 to win the DuBois tournament.
Rosy Hearns, Hickory golf – Shot a 78 to win the Meadville Invitational.
Austin Pondel, Corry cross country - Finished the Sharpsville Invitational in 15 minutes, 32.9 seconds to win the title by more than 53 seconds in a field of 261.
Kristen White, West Middlesex cross country - Placed second among 220 runners in the Sharpsville Invitational on Saturday with a time of 19:38.40.
Dan Jaskowak, Grove City cross countryWon the PIAA Foundation Class AA Blue race in Hershey among a field of 221 runners with a time of 16:19.
Sarah Latzo, Villa Maria water polo – Had a total of 15 goals in the Victors’ five victories at the Beast of the East Tournament, including the winning goal in the title match.
Josh Daniel, McDowell water polo – Scored 19 goals in four games at the Beast of the East Tournament, including nine goals against Hazleton.
Katie Elia, Mercyhurst Prep girls tennis – Turned in two straight-set victories while leading the Lakers to victories over Central Tech and Villa Maria.
