Moylan finishes in fourth, Rinker second at PIAA golf

North East all-star golfer Megan Moylan rallied to finish in fourth place at the PIAA Class AA championships at the Heritage Hills Golf Resort and Conference Center in York. Moylan shot a 78 today to finish with a two-day total of 163. Cara Basso of Villa Maria (the Eastern one) won the title with a 150. Hickory’s Rosy Hearns shot a two-day total of 166 to finish in seventh place. Erica Herr of Council Rock North dominated the Class AAA field to shoot a 140 and win the PIAA championship.

On the boys’ side, Slippery Rock standout Brett Rinker finished in second place in the Class AAA tournament. He finished just one stroke behind state champion Craig Hornberger (Manheim Township). In Class AA, Brian Ropiecki (North East) shot an 81 today to finish in 25th place with a 167 total. Trevor Rodgers of Cambridge Springs took 27th with a 168, while Harbor Creek’s Teven Vargo finished with a 177 to take 32nd.
