The Fairview community had a strong reaction to its boys soccer team not being in the District 10 Class A playoffs. District 10 has responded in a big way.
District 10 treasurer Gus Picardo confirmed just minutes ago that Fairview will play against Kennedy Catholic in a Class A play-in match Thursday at Dollinger Field. The match will take place at 6 p.m. followed by the District 10 Class AAA girls championship between McDowell and Strong Vincent at 8 p.m.
The interesting part about this new development? The winner plays Mercyhurst Prep on Tuesday.

KCSoccer,
How does the game last night not validate the committee’s decision? Fairview won handily and showed that they deserve to be in the playoffs way more than Kennedy Catholic. And anyways, the committee did not take the playoff spot away from KC. They simply said that you have to beat Fairview first before you can move on to face Mercyhurst. KC got one more game either way. Either lose to Fairview or lose to Mercyhurst.
H-Town Momma,
Fairview has lost to Mercyhurst a lot lately, but everyone knows that sooner or later that streak is going to end. With an entire district rooting against the Tigers now, there has never been a better chance for Fairview to break that streak. Fairview is up against a lot of adversity and can’t stand to lose to Mercyhurst one more time. The game on Tuesday will be full of intensity. I just hope you and the rest of the Mercyhurst fans don’t cry too much after Fairview delivers a nice butt kicking. Oh yeah…and don’t make any excuses after you lose either.
OMMMGGGG H-Town Momma, c’mon man. How long have you lived in Erie? We are Fairview!!! We get what we want.
The region champions should be given a bye. Then have, in “A” and “AA”, 4 more teams in preliminary rounds. Give the league champs a break. This way, the 2nd and 3rd teams in each region would get a chance to make a playoff, while the champs get a game off. But I do agree, the majority of the D-10 committee must go. Most of the committee members are retired and are not even a part of the PIAA schools that they are supposed to serve. I feel that if the committee members have retired from their schools, they need to be replaced. It is time to stop the gravy train for these retired guys. The good old boys club needs to move on to the pastures, and give the younger, still employed teachers, coaches, principals, and AD the reins to D-10.
Mike dude, nice idea and I totally agree. Sorry for the harshness before. You got smarter; we can be friends now.
chaz,
why would mps cry or make excuses after losing, thats fairview’s job. Every loss to mps brings a new complaint or excuse. “oh they must have cheated somehow” “oh they taunted us after we lost” “oh their divers” “i watch my friends cry after they lost”. its just a game, get over it.
Hey, I like Mike,
I’m not the Mike above, apparently there are 2 Mikes! LOL
