  1. Comeonyouspurs says:

Why didn’t they just move the playoffs to earlier in the day? You know a storm is coming and D10 baseball playoffs always seem to be in the afternoon, so just do the same.

Move the soccer games up to noon and then if your a paid assistant coach like myself you don’t have to call all of today off and then try to get someone to cover your whole Wednesday at work now too.

  2. Tom Reisenweber says:

Those are good questions for D-10. I couldn’t tell you for sure.

    Thanks,
    Tom

  3. Doug says:

For the Fairview games it says site and time to be determined. Does that mean the games will not be at general mcclane?

  4. Tom Reisenweber says:

    Doug,
D-10 has not announced the site for either Fairview soccer match yet. I think they are working on a site because McLane is full with other games.

    Thanks,
    Tom

  5. FLB Fan says:

I say all the games should be moved to the Family First indoor soccer fields…let’s see how good some of these teams really are..lmao

  6. brian says:

who in their right mind would have the Corry-Iroquois Volleyball play in match at 4 then expect them to go play at 8 pm in Meadville? That is not fair at all to either team….

  7. Tom Reisenweber says:

    Brian,
That is a tough situation. Luckily, Cochranton is right by Meadville so it isn’t a huge drive. Just tough to play two full matches in the same day. Although some teams end up doing that anyway in weekend tournaments.

    Thanks,
    Tom

  8. Mike says:

    Tom,
Good call on the volleyball play-in game. All those teams play in Saturday tournaments to get ready for the state tournament, which can be 2 or 3 pool matches in one day. So 2 matches in one day should not be an issue, acually sometimes it can be a momentum advantage. Besides if they don’t like the play-in game then the option is win your region and get an automatic bid.
    Mike

  9. Down South says:

I don’t know a lot about VB so excuse my ignorance. But didn’t they change the D10 playoffs this year – it is no longer pool play but the best of 5 like the regular season. So the play in game would be the best of 5 and so would the game at 8 p.m.

Saturday tournaments and pool play can be one to 3 “games or matches…whatever they are called”. Plus on Saturday tournaments taht mean absolutely nothing you have the opportunity to rest players. not so much in the playoffs.

I understand the weather situation but to have two games in one night (playoff games) is odd. And “just win the region” is a ludicrous statement. They made the playoffs and one would hope the right not to play two games in one day.

  10. Tom Reisenweber says:

    Down South,
The problem is the weather has forced this. There is no alternative. D-10 has to have its PIAA teams settled by Saturday night. I don’t think playing four hours apart will be that big of a deal. Let’s say both matches go the full five sets, which is unlikely. That means these players will play 10 sets in one day. I am sure they’ve played as many or even more in weekend tournaments.

    Thanks,
    Tom

  11. Mercer Girls Soccer says:

If Comeonyouspurs had their way and moved up the soccer games to noon on tuesday to beat the storm as they suggested, I wouldn’t be coaching my team in the playoffs. Work schedules are set at my job two weeks in advance and you can’t just call off. I had hard enough time trying to get things set originally. I couldn’t just change on the fly.

  12. Tom Reisenweber says:

Plus, I don’t think they are moving games up earlier in the day when these athletes have school.

    Thanks,
    Tom

  13. Soccerfan says:

Any word on times or locations for fvw/mps boys or fvw/Wilmington girls games for tomorrow or Saturday?

  14. Tom Reisenweber says:

    Soccerfan,
D-10 will release times and sites for tomorrow after the games tonight. I will have them on the blog the second they are available.

Saturday will depend on who is left.

    Thanks,
    Tom
