Erie Times-News Breakout Team of the Week nominees

Fans can vote for the Breakout Team of the Week on the top right corner of the page. Voting continues through Friday at 4:59 p.m. with the winner being featured Sunday in the Erie Times-News. Teams who have won the award this season are no longer eligible. Fans are encouraged to nominate teams by 5 p.m. each Tuesday.

Mercyhurst Prep girls soccer – The Lakers rolled to the District 10 Class AA championship before knocking off Belle Vernon 2-0 in the first round of the PIAA playoffs.
Harbor Creek boys soccer – The Huskies earned their third shutout of the postseason by beating Belle Vernon 2-0 in the first round of the PIAA playoffs.
Fort LeBoeuf girls volleyball - The Bison rolled to the D-10 championship before sweeping Ambridge in the PIAA first round.
Maplewood girls volleyball – The Tigers pulled out a four-set win over West Shamokin Tuesday to advance to the PIAA quarterfinals. Maplewood also won the D-10 championship on Saturday.
Meadville girls volleyball - The Bulldogs overcame a tough D-10 loss to Fort LeBoeuf to knock off Somerset in the PIAA first round.
McDowell boys soccer – Beat Cathedral 5-2 to win the D-10 Class AAA championship and earn a spot in the PIAA playoffs.
Mercer boys soccer – Halted Mercyhurst Prep’s three-year run in Class A with a 2-0 win in the D-10 Class A championship.
Grove City boys cross country – Finished second as a team in the PIAA Class AA championship. The Eagles were only three points behind first place.
Cathedral Prep football - Completed a perfect regular season at 10-0 with a big win over General McLane.
Mercyhurst Prep football – Stayed hot with a 14-7 upset of Northwestern.
Seneca football – Picked up a signature win by upsetting Region 1 champion West Middlesex 21-20.

    Argh!! I have tried numerous times to vote for the breakout team of the week – MPS boys basketball, but cannot get to the site to vote! I can find the status of the votes, but cannot get to the voting site. I have heard this from numerous people. If it were easier to find, you would have TONS more people voting. Please help!!

    Someone in your network might have already voted for them. We have it set for one vote per network so someone doesn’t sit there and vote 500 times for one team lol.
