PIAA playoff updates

Check back throughout the night for updates from the Mercyhurst Prep-Moon girls soccer match and the Fort LeBoeuf-Mars girls volleyball match.

Update 26
Fort LeBoeuf has advanced to the PIAA Class AA final with a 15-3 victory in the fifth set of their semifinal against Mars.

Mars calls timeout with LeBoeuf leading 11-2 in the fifth set.

Update 24
Mars calls timeout with LeBoeuf leading 5-1 in the fifth set.

Update 23
Fort LeBoeuf and Mars will play a fifth set to determine who goes to the PIAA Class AA final. The Bison recover from a poor third set for a dominant 25-13 victory in the fourth. This is the first time LeBoeuf has played five sets this season.

Mars calls timeout with Fort LeBoeuf leading 13-5 in the fourth set.

Mars takes a 2-1 lead in sets with a convincing 25-12 win of the third set. Fort LeBoeuf will have to play its first five-set match this season in order to advance to the PIAA Class AA final.

24 minutes left. MP is pushing the issue but still needs at least two more goals.

Katie Valach sends in a corner kick and it deflects from Christine Barthen’s shoulder into the net. 3-1 Moon with 34:42 left.

We’ve reached halftime at Franklin. Moon leads Mercyhurst Prep 2-1. Archbishop Wood beat Northern York 3-0 in the east final. Also a goal correction, Chelsea Leipold has been given credit for the first Moon goal.

Mercyhurst gets two straight corner kicks but cannot convert either. 2-1 Moon with 9:20 left in the first half.

Down to 15 minutes left in the first half. Moon is still on the attack and freshman keeper Elyza Pilatowski is still making plays for the Lakers. 2-1 Tigers

Grese scores again. 2-1 Moon with 24:19 left in the first half. Marissa Clough with the assist.

Update 2
Antonia Grese scores before Allie Segel ties this one up 1-1! 30:14 left in the first half. Both games came 24 seconds apart. Segel collected a rebound off a Sarah Kaiser shot right in front of the net.

Update 1
Very cold night here in Franklin but we are 15 minutes from intros and anthem. The Mercyhurst Prep girls are looking for their second trip to Hershey in program history and second trip in the past three years.
