Franklin, Sharon search for head football coach

Both Franklin and Sharon will likely have new football head coaches in the fall. Franklin coach Dave Smith resigned last week, which will be come official Monday, according to the Oil City Derrick and Sharon athletic director Paul Torr confirmed today that the head football coach position is open at Sharon. Smith spent the past nine seasons at Franklin, building a 31-59 record in his tenure. Franklin went 1-9 in 2012, its fourth straight losing season. Smith told the Oil City Derrick that he was told the board was opening the position and understands their position. Sharon opened up the position after going 3-17 over the past two seasons. Robert Fromm has coached the Tigers for the last nine seasons to accumulate a record of 55-45. Sharon won the 2010 District 10 Class AA championship and made five total playoff appearances during Fromm’s tenure. Smith and Fromm will be able to reapply during the application process.
