What’s your favorite 2012 moment?

The Varsity blog will be reviewing the top moments in 2012 on Monday and Tuesday. From the Cathedral Prep and Villa Maria basketball teams making the state semifinals to Fort LeBoeuf claiming its first girls volleyball state title, the calendar year was full of great moments. What is your favorite? Fans are welcome to comment on this post or e-mail with their favorite moments of 2012. It can be something like a talented player reaching a personal goal up to a team winning a state title. The blog will count down the Top 10 moments during Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and all moments selected from the fans will be credited to them.

I realize it isn’t going to be the top moment (which will probably belong to Prep and/or FLB for their state championships), but as a GM fan I was really happy for the boys basketball team going undefeated and winning the district 10 title against Warren. An undefeated regular season and district championship is quite an accomplishment.

Prep winning another state championship in football was a great moment for Erie sports, but it had done before. The Fort LeBoeuf girls volleyball team going undefeated and winning the school’s and the county’s first state championship in volleyball is my favorite moment and in my opinion the greatest moment in 2012!

I would say my favorite sports moment is the Fort Leboeuf girls volleyball team winning their first state championship. As a Fort Leboeuf alum I could not have been prouder. They made our whole community proud.
