Erie Times-News Breakout Athlete of the Week nominees

Fans can vote for the Breakout Athlete of the Week on the top right corner of the page. Voting continues through Tuesday at 11:59 p.m. with the winners being featured in the Erie Times-News. Fans are encouraged to nominate teams by 5 p.m. each Saturday by sending an e-mail to sports@timesnews.com.

Boys basketball
Matthew Dogan, West Middlesex – Scored 29 points, including nine free throws in the fourth quarter, to lead the Big Reds to a 64-57 win over Kennedy Catholic. He also had 34 points in a 99-57 win over Sharpsville.
Anthony Cannone, Hickory – Had a career-high 28 points in a 75-63 win over Meadville.
Marshawn Hyman, Farrell – Finished with 20 points and six rebounds in a 68-48 win over Slippery Rock. He also had 13 points in a 70-45 win over George Junior.
Nafis Brown, George Junior – Had 31 points and six assists in a 69-65 loss to Franklin.
Darrell Stovall, Sharon – Collected 10 points and 14 rebounds in a 62-53 win over Ursuline.
Jesse Hilliard, Wilmington – Had 21 points in an 80-38 win over Jamestown.
Casey Greggs, Lakeview – Finished with 20 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals in a 60-26 win over Greenville.
Logan Clarke, Mercer – Scored 31 points in a 71-60 overtime win over Reynolds.
Colton Edinger, Iroquois – Had 23 points in a 66-55 win over Rocky Grove.
Logan Way, Oil City – Finished with 11 points and 12 rebounds in a 43-40 win over Grove City.
Noah Jones, Franklin – Scored 22 points and pulled down 13 rebounds in a 69-65 win over George Junior. He also had 15 points and 11 rebounds in a 46-31 win over Oil City.
Nick Dickson, Cochranton – Had 20 points and 9 rebounds in a 55-45 win over Cambridge Springs.
Noah Uplinger, Conneaut - Finished with 22 points and 8 rebounds in a 53-50 win over Cochranton. He also had 30 points in a 52-48 win over Fort LeBoeuf.
Jaymon Mason, General McLane – Scored 29 points in a 69-26 win over Conneaut (Ohio).
Carl Anderson, Mercyhurst Prep – Scored 16 points in a 53-32 win over Bradford and had 13 points in a 42-31 win over Titusville.
Matt Sandberg, Warren – Drilled a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give the Dragons a 77-75 win over McDowell, which was Warren’s first win over McDowell in seven years. He finished with 29 points.
Shane Rigby, Saegertown – Finished with 20 points in a 65-54 win over Reynolds.
Michael Beck, McDowell – Scored 22 points in a 66-62 loss to Transit Tech.
Matt Harris, Cathedral Prep - Played well in the KSA tournament. He scored 19 points in the opening game for Prep before drilling a 3 with two seconds left to send the next game into overtime. The Ramblers eventually lost in overtime but Harris finished with six points.
Bryce Turner, Seneca – Collected 16 points in a 42-37 upset of North East.
Andy Niland, Fairview – Scored 20 points in a 56-47 win over Iroquois.
Corey Shinko, Northwestern – Had 19 points in a 49-48 win over Union City.
Zach Mattson, Harbor Creek – The freshman finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds in a 50-38 win over Iroquois.
Joe Swanson, Girard – Scored 21 points in a 66-42 win over Conneaut.

Girls basketball
Whitney Murray, Farrell – Scored 17 points and had nine rebounds in a 42-33 win over West Middlesex.
Arianna Hanley, Saegertown – Had 20 points in a 45-27 win over Reynolds.
Alex Ricketts, Kennedy Catholic – Scored 21 points in a 67-49 win over Sharpsville. She went over 1,000 career points earlier this season.
Tanayja Sanders, Sharon – Finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds in a 64-37 win over Wilmington.
Jordyn Wyllie, Grove City – Had 23 points in a 59-40 win over Meadville.
Shauntia Vactor-Pope, Meadville – Scored 23 points in a 59-40 loss to Grove City.
McKenzie Popatak, Sharpsville – Erupted for 36 points and 11 rebounds in a 50-38 win over West Middlesex.
Riley Davis, Oil City – Recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds in a 37-32 win over Greenville.
Natasha Lepley, Rocky Grove – Had a career-high 18 points in a 65-32 win over Union City.
Tenasia Law, Franklin – Scored a career-high 17 points in an 81-20 win over Titusville.
Morgan Egli, Cochranton – Had 13 points and 11 rebounds in a 62-30 win over Northwestern.
Katie Teed, Seneca – Finished with 24 points in a 70-17 win over Union City.
Theresa Fachetti, Harbor Creek – Started a big week with 20 points in a 48-41 win over McDowell before scoring 15 in a 33-31 win over Central Tech.
Alex Artise, North East – Finished with 20 points and six assists in a 69-25 win over Northwestern.
Jaimie Eaton, Warren – Had 21 points in a 53-17 win over East.
Hailey Wilwohl, McDowell – Earned a spot on the all-tournament team at the Hollidaysburg tournament after two solid performances, including 11 points in a 51-27 win over Bryn Mawr.
Jenn Ferguson, Grove City – Scored 23 points in a 57-42 win over Central Tech.

Boys swimming/diving
Andy Frederick, Franklin – Won four events in a win over Titusville. He won the 200 free and 100 butterfly while also participating in the winning 200 medley and 400 free relays.
Ryan Siggins, Iroquois – Had three event wins over General McLane. He won the 200 free and 500 free and was part of the 400 free relay.
Justin Ditmore, General McLane – Won four events during a loss to Iroquois. He won the 50 and 100 free and was part of two relay wins.
Jonathan Ekas, McDowell – Had three event wins and set a pool record in the 100 backstroke with a time of 59.59 seconds.
Nick Boucher, Strong Vincent – Won three events in a sweep of East. He won the 50 free and 100 breaststroke and was part of the winning 200 medley relay.
Griffin Schaetzle, Mercyhurst Prep – Finished first in four events during a sweep of Meadville.
Robert Sikatzki, Fairview – Had four event wins and set pool records, including the 100 back at 52.77 seconds.
Chip Oberle, North East - Won four events in a sweep of Girard. He won the 50 free and 100 breaststroke and was on two winning relays.
Rex Riley, Cathedral Prep – The freshman won three events, including a crucial 100 breaststroke event during a 3-point win over McDowell.

Girls swimming/diving
Taylor Barnett, Iroquois – Won four events in a win over General McLane. She won the 200 IM and the 100 butterfly and was part of the winning 200 medley and 200 free relay teams.
Kristin Owens, McDowell – Had three event wins in a sweep of Warren. She won the 100 butterfly and was part of two winning relays.
Hannah Rhodes, Strong Vincent – Won four events in a win over East. She won the 100 backstroke and 100 free and was a part of two winning relay teams.
Rylee Klomp, Mercyhurst Prep - Had four event wins in a sweep of Meadville. She won the 100 and 50 free and was part of two winning relay teams.
Rachel Taylor, Fairview – Won four events in a sweep of Harbor Creek. She won the 100 back, the 100 butterfly and was in two winning relay teams.
Kathy Herman, North East - Claimed four event wins in a sweep of Girard. She won the 200 and 500 free and was on two winning relay teams.
Alexa Dunn, Girard – Had four event wins in a win over Corry. She won the 200 free and 100 breaststroke and was a member of two winning relay teams.
Taylor Bean, Harbor Creek – Won four events in a sweep of Iroquois. She won the 200 IM and the 100 breaststroke and was on two winning relays.

Wrestling
Zane Wolf, Slippery Rock - Earned a decision at 195 pounds in the final match to help the Rockets edge Grove City 37-36.
Eli Rutter, Mercer – Had a decision at 145 pounds to help the Mustangs clinch a 35-30 win over Franklin.
Dalton Matthews, Franklin – Pinned his opponent in 2 minutes during the 170-pound match in a 57-15 win over West Middlesex.
Andrew Phelps, North East – Earned a pin in 3:24 in the final match (195) of North East’s 37-36 win over Union City.
Evan Daley, Fort LeBoeuf – Picked up his 100th win with a pin in the 220-pound match of a 63-6 win over Eisenhower.
Austin Matthews, Reynolds – Continued his storied career with a major decision at 152 pounds during a win over Cathedral Prep.
Jared Morrison, Cochranton – Earned a pin at 126 pounds to lock up a 39-30 win over Northwestern.
Joe Wheeling, General McLane – Picked up a huge pin during the 106-pound match of a win over McDowell.
