The McDowell boys basketball team looks like a legitimate contender in Class AAAA this season, and junior Michael Beck is a big part of the Trojans’ early success.
Beck, a 6-foot 3-inch guard, is averaging 15.3 points per game and has put together several big performances.
He scored 23 points, including 13 in the fourth quarter, in a 71-60 win over Strong Vincent, and 22 points in a 66-62 loss to Transit Tech (N.Y.).
Beck has a terrific combination of size and speed and has emerged as a solid weapon for coach Kevin O’Connor’s new-look offense.
