Tom,
congrats to everyone who made the all state teams!! Great accomplishment.
I was wondering the procedure for someone making an all state team. Now, granted I’m a homer here. How did Tyler Luchey of Sharpsville not make the all state team or honorable mention as WR? The kid had a great year, backed it up in the playoffs. Against PA he was the best WR on the field – no question.
Thanks
Sharpsville Fan,
I can only speak on the procedure for the PA Sports Writers all-state team as a voting member. Each paper is asked to nominate players and then we vote on them. I think there was only one player we added this year that wasn’t nominated so it is on each paper to get us the info. I nominated the Erie County kids from D-10 and other papers were asked to nominate their own.
As far as the Pennsylvania Football News goes, I believe that association picks their own based on their own opinions. I think coaches contribute some as well.
I am surprised Luchey wasn’t put on all-state. I made sure he was on our all-district team as one of the best, if not the best, receivers in D-10.
Thanks,
Tom
