Erie Times-News Breakout Wrestler of the Week: Mike Sutton, General McLane

Mike Sutton

General McLane junior Mike Sutton has been one of the top wrestlers in Erie County this season. His success is a big reason for the Lancers’ emergence as a favorite in Class AAA.

Sutton recently won the 152-pound championship at the prestigious Tool City Tournament in Meadville. He picked up a 5-2 win in the championship match.

Sutton continued his momentum Thursday with a thrilling 5-3 win in the 152-pound bout of McLane’s 54-12 victory against traditional power Cathedral Prep. McLane looks like the Class AAA team to beat and Sutton could be primed for a strong postseason.
