Starting time switched for D-10 cheerleading meet

District 10 girls competitive spirit director Marylou Billings announced Tuesday that the starting time for the district’s inaugural meet has been changed.

The Jan. 26 competition will now begin at 2 p.m. at Fairview High School, rather than at 1 as listed on the district’s original registration form. Billings made the switch to accomodate students who are scheduled to take the SAT that morning.

Nine schools registered for the meet. McDowell and Oil City will compete in its large-school division; Harbor Creek and Mercyhurst Prep in the medium-school division; and Girard, Villa Maria, Warren, Wilmington, and the host Tigers in the small-school division.

The three division winners, plus four at-large teams regardless of class, will automatically advance to the first-ever PIAA meet Feb. 2 at Hersheypark Arena.
