PIAA awards District 10 third Class AAA girls basketball playoff spot

District 10 Class AAA girls teams can breathe a little easier. Despite the motion being voted down in December. District 10 has been given a third Class AAA girls playoff spot at today’s PIAA Board of Directors meeting. District 10 normally receives three Class AAA girls basketball spots in the PIAA playoffs each year but with the new cycle, D-10 was only given two because of lower numbers. The brackets were developed before Conneaut consolidated, which using the PIAA formula, gives D-10 only two spots. After Conneaut consolidated to become Class AAA, D-10 had enough teams to garner a third spot. The revision was voted on and shot down in a big way at the December PIAA meeting. However, it was brought up again and District 7 (WPIAL) has lost its seventh spot so D-10 can have three.

  1. Warren says:

    Great news for District 10.
Can you tell me if your newspaper has a good investigative reporter? “Fachetti Fan” seems to have come up missing. I would like someone to find him/her and ask her/him if the Warren girls are still “overrated.” Big time beatdown last night. I know our Dragons don’t make your Top 5. Where would you put them? #6? #7? #8? Thanks for all your high school coverage.

I’d put them 6 with a Conneaut loss from moving up.
