Erie Times-News Breakout Girls Swimmer/Diver of the Week: Ashley Benovic, Iroquois

Ashley Benovic

Ashley Benovic has stepped in to contribute in any race the Iroquois swimming team needs her for.

The junior recently won four events in a 110-54 win over General McLane and each race presented a different challenge. She won the 100 backstroke with a time of 1 minute, 8.26 seconds and the 200 IM at 2:32.89. Benovic also swam for two winning relay teams, including the 200 medley relay (2:14.57) and the 400 free (4:29.59).

Benovic has shown her versatility and ability to adapt to any swimming stroke, which could pay off in the postseason and next winter.
