No surprises in AAA boys really. Tough first round games for GM and Girard. I’m sure they’d much rather play Meadville than Farrell or Sharon.
My predictions:
Girard over Sharon by 8
SV over Meadville by 4
Farrell over GM by 9
Hickory over East by 16
More disrespect for GM lol. I don’t get it. Make sure to check out the live blog at 6!
Thanks,
Tom
surprised no play in games anywhere Tom
Tom,
What happened to Erie First in A?
Tough field in boys A.
DT,
I will get an official reason from D-10. I heard there was a paperwork issue.
Thanks,
Tom
tom,
Yeah I thought there’d be a few, especially after three last year.
Thanks,
Tom
Franklin migh have biggest gripe this year. Not saying they should be in but they have one of the best arguments since 2 teams have same record ( one they split with) and 1 team has worse record. But looks like they went with Sharon since they had a better second half.
Geez, get off GM’s jock already…….What did you want for them? They are playing a home game like always. I sure hope either Farrell or Hickory takes care of them.
Tom,
Any idea why AAA will play the first round game on Wednesday? It seems like it was always Thursday (and there are no Thurs games this year). Also, does that mean they could play the following Monday?
Trying to figure out work schedules!
So gald to see that Seneca girls got in. They earned it. Congrats to coach Carter and the girls!!! I have a little more faith in d 10 now
Jon,
It might be site availability than anything. It did confuse me too but Edinboro and SRU might not be available Thursday.
Thanks,
Tom
1. How do we know the seedings?
2. How do we know who plays who in the semifinals?
I believe GM plays Girard in the D-10 championship. It just surprised me that they’ve been one of the best teams in D-10 this season and someone picks them to lose right away.
Thanks,
Tom
Tough final two weeks for the Knights. Go from second place to out of the playoffs with three tough road losses.
think you for puting iroquois in they wii play hard
Is there a website where I can get an actual bracket?
So how will they explain giving the Saegertown girls the 8 seed as a region champ? I thought Region champs were supposed to get the top 3 seeds. Conneaut was the only team to finish above them and is AAA. Talk about a screw job. District 10 is a joke.
bballman32,
That really confuses me. Not sure why Saegertown is the 8 unless they decided that after Region 4 got 4 teams in that you separate the four and just match teams up.
Thanks,
Tom
Joel,
I lined up the brackets in the order they play in the semifinals. Seeds aren’t published by D-10.
Thanks,
Tom
What’s the point of Iroquois/Sharpsville getting in? Iroquois isn’t even a .500 team and Sharpsville barely is….really no reason for either of them to be in.
They could have switched Saegertown and Mercer and done it the right way. Why even have seeding guidelines, which they have posted on the district10 site, when you ignore them. So much for region winners get the top 3 seeds.
Need eight teams for the bracket.
tom,
Are 3 teams from A boys moving on to state tourney? if so a team under .500 will move on to sate playoffs. A little ridiculous.
Saegertown girls being an 8 seed is a surprise.
the one play in game that i seen deserving would have been tom pyle’s north east team with just the close games they were in with higher seeds and their overall record. but their destiny was in their own hands in the last week.
Why can’t you just go with 6? It’s not like they send 8 to the state playoffs…waste of time imo
By waste of time I mean it waters down regular season.
tom,
live blog at 6?
Why no play in game with Iroquois and North East?
Glad the Seneca girl’s basketball team got in. They worked their butts off this season.. Let’s Go Lady Bobcats!!!
Bob,
Sending 3 to PIAA is probably why they did eight.
Thanks,
Tom
DT,
Yes, three move on in A boys. D-10 should give one of those spots back lol.
Thanks,
Tom
Kay,
I think they went off Iroquois beating NE twice this year.
Thanks,
Tom
Triple A Boys will be the most competitive bracket.
Tom why Sharon over Franklin ?
John M,
Not really sure. My best guess, and in no way is this official, is Sharon won the second meeting and is playing much better than Franklin lately.
Thanks,
Tom
Feel bad for Franlin`s young men, should have let them decide the issue on the court, District Ten is very inconsitent in their decision making process.
Tom, who are the district 10 officials that decide on these brackets? What areas of the district do they represent? Is there anyway to list them? There are no easy games in the district AA girls bracket, but giving the Saegertown girls an 8 seed is not just. It seems like the rules change depending who you are from year to year!!!
Brian,
There is a D-10 exec committee made up of D-10 members. I don’t know for sure who is on that committee.
I think there might be some movement on the GM-Saegertown situation. I contacted D10 about the mistake of two region champions playing each other with Saegertown and General McLane and haven’t heard back in a few hours. Maybe they are adjusting the bracket?
Thanks,
Tom
The members of the committee are listed on the district 10 website. If they don’t change the AA girls bracket they need replaced.
Bballman,
Not all D-10 Committee members are on the basketball committee just an FYI.
Thanks,
Tom
Surprise, surprise…GM gets a home game…again.
Once again District 10 committee decides to insult Mercyhurst athletics. Why do both the men’s and women’s basketball teams have to play first round games when each team clearly deserves a bye? An absolute shame.
bbfan where would you have put the gm sharon game, there are 3 gyms big enough for a aaa double header. Slippery Rock, Edinboro or Gannon. Every year we have to listen too people whine about them. Until you people find a alternative keep quiet.
Susan: There are 8 teams in each field. Why would anyone get a bye in an 8 team field?
Why doesnt SV and Meadville play at GM highschool?
One thing to remember on locations of games, they can only put games at places that are willing to host. Not all schools want to do that so you have northern schools traveling to Slippery Rock & southern teams traveling to GM & Edinboro
Sandman,
A friend recently explained the committee’s reasoning to me, but I still cannot help but feel that the two Laker teams were dealt an unfair hand.
Not sure GM people would like to work a game instead of watching their own team.
pretty sad state of affairs in boys A BB
playoffs when nearly every team below .500…
CP in playoffs 12 games under .500? wow!!!!
harbor creek girls are a team in the making. the next 2 years they will be very, very competitive. wouldn’t doubt they compete with mercyhurst, NE, GM, and give villa
a run for their money. just look at their JV girls stats last year, impressive. can’t wait.
