Erie Times-News Breakout Team of the Week nominees

Fans can vote for the Breakout Team of the Week on the top right corner of the page. Voting continues through Friday at 4:59 p.m. with the winner being featured Sunday in the Erie Times-News. Teams who have won the award this season are no longer eligible. Fans are encouraged to nominate teams by 5 p.m. each Tuesday.

Reynolds wrestling - Dominated at the District 10 Class AA individual championships to finish with the most team points.
Meadville hockey -Defeated Fairview to clinch the Lakeshore Hockey League championship.
McDowell boys basketball – The Trojans rallied to defeated Central Tech 69-55 in the District 10 Class AAAA semifinals.
East boys basketball – The Warriors pulled off a big upset against Hickory in the D-10 Class AAA quarterfinals.
Central Tech girls basketball – The Falcons won a marathon game against East in the D-10 Class AAAA semifinals.
Franklin girls basketball – The Knights routed Conneaut 68-33 in the D-10 Class AAA quarterfinals.
Mercyhurst Prep girls basketball – The Lakers held off Slippery Rock 36-31 in the D-10 AAA quarterfinals.
Villa Maria basketball – The Victors handled Grove City in the D-10 AAA quarterfinals.
Hickory girls basketball – The Hornets held off Warren in the D-10 AAA quarterfinals.
North East girls basketball - The Grapepickers rallied to beat Sharon 45-40 in the D-10 AA quarterfinals.
General McLane girls basketball – The Lancers routed Saegertown in the D-10 AA quarterfinals.
Sharpsville girls basketball – The Blue Devils had a late comeback to beat Seneca in the D-10 AA quarterfinals.
Mercer girls basketball – The Lady M’s upset Girard in the D-10 AA quarterfinals.
Commodore Perry girls basketball – Put together a big comeback to beat Eisenhower 51-50 in the D-10 A quarterfinals.
Farrell girls basketball - The Steelers forced overtime and beat Rocky Grove 43-39 in the D-10 A quarterfinals.
Cochranton girls basketball – The Cardinals routed Reynolds 60-19 in the D-10 A quarterfinals.
Lakeview boys basketball – Picked up an impressive win over Mercyhurst Prep in the D-10 Class AA semifinals.
West Middlesex boys basketball – Continued their great season with a win over Fairview in the D-10 AA semifinals.
General McLane boys basketball – Routed East 76-50 to move on to the D-10 Class AAA championship.
Kennedy Catholic boys basketball – The Golden Eagles held off VisionQuest to move on to the D-10 Class A championship.
Cochranton boys basketball - Defeated Eisenhower to advance to the D-10 Class A championship.

    basically Saegertown (A) lost to GM (AAA) that gets you nominated for team of the week? Check out the numbers on the district 10 website….Saeg….138 girls and GM…237 girls. Seems fair!

    Yes Brian a region champion who is in the D-10 semifinals shouldn’t be nominated for team of the week.

    This is great. Saeg is not A…they are AA. GM is not AAA….they are AA. I know what you’re basically implying but it’s flawed.

    Yes GM has more kids. That’s because they are a bigger AA school – classifications not established by McLane.

    GM no doubt should be considered as team of the week.
