  1. Lake says:

Mercyhurst Prep seeded 1 and Saegertown 2,is that a joke?

  2. BaseballMom says:

How were there brackets set yesterday when Mercyhurst Prep had a scheduled game today that they LOST?? Looks to me like D10 jumped the gun. Saegertown should have the #1 seed.

  3. Tom Reisenweber says:

In the end, seeds won’t matter. You have to beat three teams to win D-10. Period.

  4. BaseballMom says:

If seeding didn’t matter, they’d pull names out of a hat for the brackets.

  5. Tom Reisenweber says:

Football doesn’t seed, neither does soccer or basketball. All based on regions.

  6. Hammer says:

If they don’t seed Tom, then how come in softball a few teams got a bye in A?

  7. Tom Reisenweber says:

Class A was designated before the year as a 5-team bracket. Because Rocky Grove earned a spot, the bracket was expanded to 6 teams with 2 teams getting a bye. Region champions received the byes. Saegertown was the Region 3 champion and Iroquois was the top Class A team in Region 5. Sharpsville and Reynolds shared the Region 1 championship and therefore have to play at-large teams in the first round.

  8. Saegertown Fan says:

Wow MP gets the #1 seed over Saegertown? What a joke! Why do they feel sorry for them after they cheated last year bringing in former players to help at practice? Erie teams always get favoritism where they play at and the seeds?

  9. Lake says:

Having Saegertown number 2 puts them in the same bracket as Titusville and Adam Bleday one of best pichers in dist. 10.Its just like every sport in D10 there are no counties south of Erie. Its time to get some new guys running D10.We played both teams and Sagertown is a lot better than MP.

  10. Lake says:

And no matter how many good questions you ask Baseball Mom,Tom will have a good excuse for his Erie Teams and would never admit that the good old boys from D10 blew it,especially the one from Erie that runs baseball!

  11. Tom Reisenweber says:

How many more conspiracy theories can we develop? Look, in sports seeds don’t matter. You have to beat these teams eventually so what does it matter? Saegertown is a state-championship caliber team and will have to beat the best in the WPIAL and the east to win a state title. Why wouldn’t you want to face “the best pitcher in D-10″ to get ready for those teams? And if Saegertown loses to Titusville, wouldn’t that same thing happen in the D-10 championship instead of the semifinals?

  12. Hammer says:

    Tom,
Seriously…thanks for keeping the sports interesting in our district…your hard work is appreciated!

  13. Tom Reisenweber says:

Thank you. I almost wish we had this stuff come up more because I love discussing sports with everyone.

  14. Laker says:

If any one of you have ever seen Mercyhurst play, they play with heart and dont quit… After beating Mcdowell they got the spark they needed and it can carry them through the playoffs and can hang with anybody even the “legendary Saegertown”. So watch out for these boys because they aren’t as bad as everyone says they are.

  15. Laker says:

And if Saegertown is so good then they shouldn’t be complaining about their seed or who they have to play.. They should roll through everyone then, right?

  16. Hammer says:

Well….I think Saegertown is pretty good….they did beat McDowell twice and Cathedral Prep once…but everyone knows that anyone can beat anyone on any given day…..I just hope for good playoffs!

  17. Laker says:

If MP was cheating why would they openly thank the players for helping them to the media? They didn’t know what they were doing was wrong

  18. Lake says:

“In sports seeds don’t matter” are you serious, all sports use some type of seeding. Its so the best teams have a better chance to make the finals.

  19. Tom Reisenweber says:

But don’t the best teams have to beat the best regardless of the round? If Titusville is really good enough to beat Saegertown, why does it matter if it’s in the semifinals or championship? Only one team goes on regardless.

  20. Lake says:

Ok by putting Saegertown at 2,they forced Titusvilles hand the only way they had a chance to beat Saegertown was with Bleday in 2nd round. If MP was at 2 they pitch Bleday 1st rd and try to beat MP again like in regular season and then Bleday again in finals. You had Saegertown at 1,Copper said last night they were a 1 everybody with any common sense had them at 1, except MP fans and D10 go figure.

  21. Tom Reisenweber says:

And now MP gets a region champion and Saegertown plays an at-large team. It all works out anyway.

  22. Rowe says:

Lake, district 10 is obviously a huge fan of mercyhurst, that’s why they took away their championship last year. Saegertown is playing Wilmington, who was the third place team in the region that sharpsville won, which is the team mercyhurst plays. I’m pretty sure saegertown has the easier opponent.

  23. Lake says:

Your right in the end seeding doesn’t matter, the best teams end up in the finals.
